Emergency Loan Goalkeeper

Posted on: Sun 19 Apr 2009

Dagenham & Redbridge have signed David Button from Tottenham Hotspur who has represented England at under-19 and under-20 level, while also spending time on loan at Bournemouth and Grays Athletic this season.

With Tony Roberts sustaining a rib injury during the 2-1 defeat at Gillingham on Easter Monday the Daggers contacted the Football League on Tuesday to seek permission to sign an emergency goalkeeper as they have no other contracted keepers on the books.

At 2.30 this afternoon, following an independent doctor's report this morning, the Club satisfied the league that the Veteran Welshman is unable to play for a period and were granted permission to sign an emergency loan goalkeeper.

Manager John Still said, "Tony's certainly not fit for the next few weeks, maybe the rest of the season.

"It's not easy to get a goalkeeper at such a late stage in the season, but David [Button] is the first one we went for."

"I'm very grateful to Tottenham for their assistance"
